Chicken Seasoning Rub Is Great For Indoor Cooking

By Gary Bailey

Although outdoor grilling is a popular pastime for many, not everyone loves the process. First, you have to determine whether the weather is appropriate. While some will fire up the grill in the rain, the experience is not quite the same. Then there is the preparation, which may include adding smoke chips for additional flavor. For those who do not have that kind of time on their hands, chicken seasoning rub can bring some of the same smoky taste to poultry.

One reason why people like to use rubs is the versatility in cooking. When making poultry dishes, this is good for seasoning filet cuts, strips, or whole sections. If the last part seems like a chore, it is best to buy fresh and chop into eight pieces that can either be prepared at once or sealed individually before placing in the freezer for a few months.

The great thing about using a rub is that everything is there in terms of flavor. Most quality brands use the freshest ingredients that are vacuum sealed before being placed on grocery store shelves. Even better, many of these have a minimal amount of sugar, sodium, or cheap fillers. When fresh herbs and spices are used in a recipe, too much of anything else is just overkill.

These rubs are also great for kids who are just learning how to cook. When they are first starting, they may not have the patience for measuring and getting the hang of food handling may take some time. However, when kids or newbie home chefs have a shortcut, they can focus more on preparing side dishes or clean up.

For those who love their air fryer, here is a simple recipe for cooking a whole chicken. After cleaning and cutting, place one cup of rub seasoning inside a medium plastic bag. If necessary, preheat air fryer on medium high before getting started. Then add two to three pieces of damp chicken to the bag and seal before giving a good shake.

Some brands have a small window on the package that allows consumers to see the dried herb pieces. Many gourmet brands also use a tight seal that keeps the flavor. So when the package is opened for the first time, the aroma should waft from the package immediately.

If a person can pour water into a glass, they can prepare an entree using a seasoning rub and have a meal in less than a half hour. All it takes is placing the seasoning on top so that it can adhere to food while cooking. Although some people like to let the rub sit for an enhanced flavor, this is often not necessary.

This is just to say that having a couple of rub flavors in the pantry can be a true lifesaver. If a person can pour a liquid into a cup, they can rub this seasoning all over their favorite poultry or fish. An alternative would be to use a clean plastic bag that can be sealed and pour the contents, followed by the protein. Give it a few shakes before placing into the broiler or preheated oven.
